Improved export options and more

This week we've introduced vastly improved export options and a range of minor tweaks.

Export reports to PDF

All users can now export their reports as PDF documents. Insites PDFs contain a simplified and shortened version of the key features from a full on-screen report, and are ideal for meetings, pitches, or sharing with colleagues. To export a PDF, view any page from a report and click the Export button in the top right corner.

Export tables to CSV

You can now export the contents of any table within a report into a CSV file (a simple spreadsheet format, compatible with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and more). Screen Shot 2017-04-27 at 15.09.07 Simply click the Export button in the top right corner of the table you wish to export.

Ignore potentially broken links

The Broken Links test lists all potentially broken links found within a website. For some JavaScript heavy websites, this can be overwhelming. If you wish to disable this feature, you can now turn it off. Disable potentially broken links View the Broken Links test, click Settings in the top right corner, and check the Ignore potentially broken links box. You will need to re-test your website afterwards for the change to take effect.

Set max connections

You can now instruct Insites to limit itself to a maximum number of connections when downloading your websites. Previously, this limit was always 6 connections, but for some sites you may need to reduce this to prevent Insites from being blocked; you can also try increasing it to test larger websites faster. This setting is found under website settings > Pages to Test > Max connections.

Set user agent

Some customers have asked if Insites can provide a recognizable User-Agent string. Ordinarily, Insites uses the User-Agent of the devices that it is pretending to be, e.g. an iPhone or a desktop computer. You can now add additional text to those User-Agent strings under website settings > Pages to Test > User Agent.

Auto-backoff under high load

Insites now detects some common signs of a website that is overwhelmed by too many connections, and automatically reduces how many requests it makes when this happens. These measures will only work with some webservers.

All tests now have descriptions

A description is now provided for all tests, and shown at the top of the test alongside its title. Test descriptions We hope this helps users understand the many tests in Insites more quickly.
