New report format and accessibility tests

The big change this week is a new report format. This change affects new customers immediately, with some changes optional for existing customers.

View issues per page

You can now see the number of issues for each page in your site, under Content > Desktop pages. A small red or yellow circle appears next to each page if it has any issues. Issues per page for NASA website Pages are now sorted with the 'worst' first, i.e. pages with the most issues.

Issues instead of scores

Individual tests no longer have scores. Instead, we now show circles representing the number of confirmed issues (red), potential issues (yellow) or that there are no issues (a blue tick). We still show summary scores on the first page of a report: Scores replaced by issue counts The idea is to tell people what areas of their website need the most attention. A score of "92/100" might suggest there are some problems, a red number "5" tells you there are 5 problems. By default your reports will work as they used to; i.e. if you signed up before today, you won't see these issue counts in the sidebar. If you'd like to change over, let us know. We expect a future version of Insites will allow you to view both.

Revised sections, new Accessibility tests

For new reports, we've divided tests into 6 different sections:
  • Quality
  • Experience
  • Marketing
  • Accessibility
  • Technology
  • Content
This introduces the new Accessibility tests (WCAG and Section 508), and moves the Mobile tests under Experience. Inventory is now called Content, and most of Compliance can now be found under Technology.
