New report design
We've updated the design of our reports, to convey more useful information in less space. The next time your reports are run, they'll use this design.
Stats over time
The most useful stats are now shown at the top of a test, with trend data below them. Trends will only be shown once a report has been run twice, or if you've been changing the state of your issues (e.g. approving the spelling of words).
Direct links to the Inspector
The most common actions for people to do in a test are look at decisions they need to make (e.g. reviewing spelling) and fixing problems. We made these actions direct links, which appear when there is anything outstanding to do.
Explanations
Nearly all tests now have written explanations in the top right. These summarize your results in a super-easy-to-understand format. If you're not sure what a test does, this is a good place to look.
Split layouts
Most tests now use a two-column layout, with the type of problems listed on the left, and the specific pages with problems shown on the right. If you click on the page count shown on the left-hand column, you can filter the right-hand column to show just pages with that problem.
Enhanced Favicon test
The Favicon test now displays all Favicons used by all pages (previously, it only displayed the largest). This is extremely useful for discovering Favicons that might otherwise be missed, such as legacy file formats (e.g.
favicon.ico
) and custom images for niche devices.
Enhanced Backlinks tests
The Backlinks test now measures and graphs many specific forms of backlink, including backlinks from different types (image, text, RSS) and high-value
.gov
and
.edu
domains.
Simplified checkpoints
Checkpoints have been simplified, and are now shown on the left as part of the new "split layout". Previously, Silktide could show a verbose list of checkpoints for any test - it now only shows you checkpoints where there are problems. Instead of showing two checkpoints for each issue (e.g. "Potential spelling errors" and "Confirmed spelling errors") Silktide now only shows you one, with yellow and red counts to indicate the distinction.
Revised top navigation
The top nav now shows the last date when the report was
fully run (note: individual page tests do not affect this date).
Most important pages
The summary screen now displays the pages with the most issues at the bottom. Clicking on a page here opens that page in the Inspector with the worst-performing test first. You can select other tests in the top left corner of the Inspector.

Note that you can search this list of pages, using the search box in the right-corner of the list of pages.
