Improved SEO fundamentals test and more
A number of updates this week:
SEO fundamentals test
We're revised all checkpoints to make this test more useful and less pedantic about minor issues:
- Recommended title length is now 60 characters (was 55), now a potential issue, not a confirmed one
- Missing heading text is now a potential issue, not a confirmed one
- Longest acceptable anchor text is now 200 characters (was 60), now a potential issue, not a confirmed one
- Long meta descriptions are now a potential issue, not a confirmed one
We've also revised the user interface to make issues easier to understand, including better visuals on the left-hand sidebar, and clearer descriptions.
Languages
When you add a new website you are now asked to confirm the languages the website uses. Previously these languages would be your defaults, which could be wrong (e.g. if you're in one country, but testing a website in another).
We also now display the languages a website was tested in at the top of the Spelling test.
Broken links
The broken links test now displays explanations for any broken links it finds:
